Office 2010 Beta Released
Office 2010 Beta is now available for download. I highly recommend
users not install it on their production system. If you ignore this
advice, install the 32bit version, especially if you use add-ins or
sync with devices. Existing add-ins will not work with the 64bit
version. There is a good chance they will work with the32bit build.
For best results, uninstall your current version of Outlook and make a
backup copy of any PST in your profile. The old profile should work
ok, but you should consider making a new one.
If you use the Outlook Connector uninstall it before installing it
beta. Outlook should offer to download the new connector for you. If
not, make a new profile and add the Hotmail/Live account to it. This
should bring up the offer to download the new connector. Once
installed, it will work with the account in the old profile.
FYI: Look on the File tab for Options and Account settings.

Birthdays Recur Every 12 Years
In this bug, all day events that
recur yearly are changed to recur every 12 years after using ActiveSync.
If your calendar is affected by this bug, set the events to have an end
date. This reportedly fixes the problem.
See Birthdays recur
every 12 Years for the latest information.
Poll: Do you keep Outlook open 24/7?
An Outlook user was curious about the % of people who "use" OL but
do not have it opened 100% of the time. There aren't too many stats
for this, so we'll collect our own in a unscientific poll with an
unknown margin of error.
Anyone can respond to the poll - its
open for anonymous voting - but posting comments requires registration.

MSN/Hotmail Access Denied
Effective September 1 2009, access to Hotmail and MSN using the
HTTP protocol in Outlook and Outlook Express is disabled. Users will
need to use the Outlook Connector or POP3/SMTP to collect their email.

Hotmail) Access Denied?
Meeting Request Update Bug
We're seeing complaints that Outlook automatically sends
meeting updates to the attendees several times a day. When users
delete the responses from their inbox it triggers another update
to attendees.
This appears to be a problem only for people who sync iPhones
with Exchange.
The fix: Do not include yourself as an attendee.

Office 2007 SP2
This update has all of the public updates, security updates, cumulative
updates, and hotfixes released through February 2009.
See Description of 2007 Microsoft Office Suite Service Pack 2 (SP2) and of Microsoft Office Language Pack 2007 SP2 for more information and links to the downloads. This was placed on Windows update and will be automatically installed on computers with automatic updates enabled.
See Outlook 2007 SP2 for

Appointment times randomly move by 2 - 8
minutes
We're seeing complaints about Outlook adding (or subtracting)
2 - 8 minutes to new appointments. For example, if an
appointment is created for 10:00 to 11:00 AM, it's changed to
10:02 to 11:02 AM. Users may also receive an error message that
the message is not recurring and they need to close all open
items.
This is not a bug in Outlook, its caused by the
anti-spam module from CA Security Suite 2008. Disabling or
uninstalling the anti-spam module will fix it.
Fixed: iPhone and Disappearing Appointments
There is a problem with iPhone v2 software syncing with
Outlook where the events created on the device are only visible
in a table view, not Day/Week/Month view.
When new appointments are entered into the iPhone they're set
as repeating in Outlook but contain no data and Outlook doesn't
know what to do with them. To fix, open the event on the iPhone
and change it to recurring daily then end the recurrence on the
date of the event before syncing.
A hotfix for Exchange server is available. See
Some recurring calendar items disappear
from the "Day/Week/Month" view in Outlook when a user uses Exchange
ActiveSync on a mobile device to modify a recurring meeting in an Exchange
2003 environment

Outlook 2003 and MIME Error
If you use Outlook 2003 you may have noticed some
messages have the header in the message body, often when you
were BCC'd on the message. There is now a hotfix for this (and
other issues) available from Microsoft. For more information

Outlook 2003 SP3
Service Pack 3 for Office 2003 was released earlier this
week. Many of the fixes in the service pack were previously
released in updates or hotfixes. New features are all
security-related and most can be disabled by editing a
registry key, if necessary for your business.
